William Tarpeh is an assistant professor of chemical engineering at Stanford University, with courtesy appointments in civil and environmental engineering and as a center fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering from Stanford, followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in environmental engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
His research focuses on transforming liquid waste into valuable resources, employing electrochemistry, separation processes, and sustainability principles to recover elements like nitrogen from wastewater. This work aims to support sustainable solutions for energy, environmental impact, and cost efficiency. In 2019, Tarpeh was recognized in Forbes' "30 Under 30" Science List.
